COACHING PHILOSOPHY…WHY I AM MORE EFFECTIVE THAN MOST COACHES…

  • Certified as a Coach in 1982 by New-York-Times Best-Selling author, Cherie Carter-Scott, PhD; considered the mother of coaching using a “client-centered” approach with over 40 million books in print. I have over three decades of full-time peak performance coaching experience for executives with thousands of clients from major companies.
  • Pioneer in the coaching field; known for innovative and creative ability to help clients be at their best while getting past psychological barriers. My mission has always been to evolve past the conventional wisdom and discover new and more empowering solutions to the challenges we face. Many coaching programs are a rehash of the conventional wisdom (things you have heard before). I promise to be cutting edge in my approach and help you develop highly customized solutions that are a match for your situation.
  • The most effective approach to coaching is to help people develop their own style based on their strengths and natural aptitudes.Teaching people a system can help, but is usually not the best solution. There is great value in systems when applied appropriately, but I encourage my clients to maintain a high level of versatility, especially in dealing with people. The intuitive part of your brain is 1000 times faster and smarter than your intellect. Your intellect (the system maker) is the slowest part of the brain and highly prone to unnecessary mistakes because it does not see the big picture.Modeling others and “best practices” can provide clues to increased performance, but the only approach that always works is one that feels intuitively right for you.
  • You create the program by identifying what you want to change or do differently, and the results you want to get from the coaching program. You determine what a “home run” will be for our work together. The most important part of the coaching program is for you to have an experience of success doing what you want to do in a way that feels right for you. Renewed confidence in your ability is power.
  • The biggest breakthroughs in the effectiveness of my approach to coaching have come from understanding how the ego works. Most people don’t realize that the ego is actually designed to keep you from reaching your potential. The ego is left brain dominant, separated from spirit, and suspicious of anything unseen which is where all the power is: intuition, inspiration, sense of purpose, and your most deeply held values. The ability to access and trust your intuitive instincts is always the source of the greatest growth. It’s the same in sports, you can’t actually play a sport intellectually, the mental processing is too slow. If you can get “the feel” of what you want to do (intuitive), there is no limit to what you can accomplish. It’s the same in life and in business. Why would it be different? Unfortunately, we have all been trained to do most everything intellectually which can be slow, plodding, and frustrating. The good news is that this limitation can easily be fixed with a new perspective along with some faith and trust.
  • You hire a coach to speed up the process of being able to do what you want to do.I often tell people, you don’t need a coach if you are happy with your progress and rate of growth. If you do want to speed up the process, hiring a coach adds a set of eyes to help you be more objective and the added energy of a skilled creative partner to supercharge the process. Of course, you still have to do the work, but it’s a lot more fun to have someone to share the process with who is dedicated to your success and to helping you find the path that feels right.
  • Coaching sessions are recorded so you have a way to review the customized coaching program that have been created for you. Of course, you can choose not to record sessions. I have clients who say don’t bother recording the session because they will never listen to it. Many clients say that listening to the session at least one time can be powerful. Clients often say they are amazed at what they didn’t hear the first time around because they were busy thinking and processing. Your choice.
  • Champion of the low-key approach in selling and self-promotion.I have proven beyond any doubt that good interviewing skills create a much higher closing rate than sales techniques.Who you are being when you talk to potential clients, customers, or buyers is key. There are two basic approaches to selling, you are either a client controller or a relationship builder. My motto is to put the client's interest first and help the client make decisions that feel right to them rather than push to make a sale. The low-key approach creates a much higher percentage of sales and a lot more long-term repeat business.
  • If you were to interview a sample of the thousands of executives I have coached about what they got from working with me, there would be a consistent response: Confidence in your ability to come up with the right answer or right response to any situation. Not the puffed-up confidence of self-delusion, but the feeling of confidence that comes from trusting yourself at the deepest level. To me there is nothing more empowering than to be able to “be yourself” and have a powerful positive impact on the people's lives you touch and the visions you bring into reality. The challenge is to learn what it feels like to be at your best and to develop the trust and faith to let that work for you. It’s the ultimate expression of “being on a roll.”
  • If the coaching philosophy I have expressed here feels right to you, we should talk!
